On 3 May 2025, a fledgling Dartford Warbler was spotted learning how to fly amongst the heather on Horsell Common. 

The Styx Valley, home to the tallest flowering planets on the face of planet Earth, comes alive with a kaleidoscope of red, green, blue, purple, yellow fungi of all shapes and sizes in Autumn. 

These cattle graze in the grassland of the Common, eating fauna that would otherwise threaten the heather. 

The Peace Garden was originally the site of 27 graves of Muslim Indian Soldiers, who died in the two world wars.

The Sandpit is famous for its role in 'The War of the Worlds', serving as the site where 'the fallen star' lands.

I can zone out, I can relax and just think about the world, think about nothing. 

I think you can learn the love of Nature and that needs to come from the children and they need to get taught. If they can't get taught by their parents, the only place is schools.

I lived in Ghana for a period of my childhood. We would go down to the gullies and rescue animals. That probably started my love of nature. 

The Bradley sisters knew what they were talking about. Today, we can follow in their example, and all do our part to help save the bush. 

Today, the fight for bushland needs the support of entire communities. Because it is there for everyone to enjoy.
