Connection, a poem by Ros Woodburn, 1 December 2021
I feel so free being out there
Nurtured
Blending as best I can
Feeling
Touching my core
Mother Earth
Her lessons (…. if we listen)
Stillness
Agitation
Entropy
New growth
Death
Overt and obscure beauty
Cycles we must work with
Tides
Rain
Wind
Impacts on our accessibility
Wet shoes, lack of wheeled traction
Dawn squid fishing
Seasonality
Connection to Her is essential
To our balanced, give and take
Existing on this planet
It’s spiritual
How to deepen this?
It needs more than “doing” as in Landcare
It needs “undoing” and stillness
Connection needs practice
From watching a fly buzzing on the inside of the window
To immersion lying on the forest floor
Simply feeling her energy
How can more of this be set into motion?
Stillness
Reflective time
Environments of peace and beauty
Easily accessible to our souls
This is our challenge
