Mosman is a spectacular peninsula on the northern shore of Sydney, Australia's most populous city.
This suburb with a rich human history and grand historic homes, contains stunning views of Sydney harbour, along with hidden beaches and exquisite patches of national park and bushland. Home to hundreds of species of native plants, and with bushland providing home to over 60 animals, including the powerful owl, Peron's tree frog, and the grey-headed flying fox.

Discover the plants and wildlife that call Mosman home
Mosman is an important peninsula on Sydney's north shore with fragments of natural bushland and a bushy coastal fringe. A recent ecological survey of Mosman identified 499 native plant species and 64 native animal species, including 3 amphibians, 43 birds, 9 mammals and 9 species of reptile that frequent the peninsula. There were four threatened fauna species found too, including the Powerful Owl, the Grey-Headed Flying-Fox, the Yellowbellied Sheathtail-Bat, and the Large-Eared Pied Bat.
Six of the bushland sites in Mosman contain Threatened Ecological Communities listed as Endangered.
Rich in birdlife and with a remarkably striking historical, urban, bush and harbour interface, the Mosman peninsula is a precious remnant of Australia's natural heritage in the heart of one of the world's most beautiful harbour cities.
