By virtue of where they live the children of Bruny Island have access to some incredibly rich and diverse natural environments and Bruny kids often have a very strong connection to the natural world. We believe that this deserves to be celebrated and shared with children and families in order to inspire them to get outdoors and connect with Nature.
It will also help improve digital literacy, by providing an authentic and safe online platform to share stories, events, things to do and articles about kids connecting with, learning about and experiencing the joy of Nature.
The Bruny Kids webpage project will be coordinated by Bruny Island teacher, Claire Boost. Claire runs Bush Lil (a Launching into Learning Program for children aged 0-4), and is helping to establish an Outdoor Classroom at Bruny Island District School. Claire will be working with teachers, parents and community groups on Bruny Island to gather material for the Bruny Kids webpage. Claire Gorman (of Liquid Pictures and Cloudy Bay Supergroms) will also be involved taking photos, footage and supporting editing of the site. The project will feature on the Kuno Earth website and be supported by the Kuno Foundation. Kuno is led by Dr Phill Pullinger and aims to foster connection, understanding and stewardship of the natural world.
